SUMMARY:Fira de Santa Llúcia 2026: Barcelona's oldest Christmas market at the Cathedral
DESCRIPTION:Expected dates for the 2026/27 season\, based on previous editions. We update this page as soon as the organisers confirm the official programme. \n\n\n\nThe Fira de Santa Llúcia is where Christmas in Barcelona begins. Held since 1786 on the square in front of the Cathedral in the Gothic Quarter\, it is the oldest and largest of the Christmas markets in Barcelona: almost 300 stalls selling nativity figures\, Christmas trees\, crafts and the two Catalan characters every visitor wants to take home\, the caganer and the Tió de Nadal. It opens in the second half of November\, when the city’s Christmas lights are switched on\, and is the traditional opening act of Winter Festival Barcelona. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA market with 240 years of history\n\n\n\nThe fair takes its name from Saint Lucy\, whose feast day on 13 December was originally the only day it was held. Over two centuries it grew into a month-long market that fills the Avinguda de la Catedral\, Plaça Nova and the surrounding streets. It is a market for locals as much as for tourists: this is where Barcelona families buy the figures for their pessebre\, the nativity scene\, and the greenery to decorate it. On 13 December the fair celebrates its patron saint with music\, giants and traditional dancing. \n\n\n\nThe four sections of the fair\n\n\n\nThe stalls are grouped by trade. The nativity and figure section is the largest\, with hand-painted figures from a few euros to collector’s pieces\, complete scenes\, and the caganer in every imaginable version – from the traditional peasant to this year’s footballers and politicians. The greenery section sells Christmas trees\, moss\, cork bark\, mistletoe and poinsettias. The crafts section has ceramics\, jewellery\, candles and decorations\, and the small simbombes section sells traditional Catalan instruments\, drums and tambourines for singing carols. Everywhere you’ll find the Tió de Nadal\, the log with a painted face that children “feed” in December and beat with sticks on Christmas Eve until it delivers presents. Our guide to Catalan Christmas traditions tells the full story. \n\n\n\nDates and opening hours 2026\n\n\n\nThe fair runs from around 20 November until 23 December\, the last day before Catalan families set up their nativity scenes. It is open every day\, usually from 10:00 to 21:00\, with longer hours on the last weekends before Christmas. Entry is free. Weekday mornings are the quietest time; on December weekends the Avinguda de la Catedral is packed. \n\n\n\nItemDetailsDates20 November – 23 December 2026 (expected)Opening hoursDaily approx. 10:00 – 21:00; longer on December weekendsEntryFreeLocationAvinguda de la Catedral / Plaça Nova – metro Jaume I (L4)\, Liceu (L3)StallsApprox. 280–300 in four sections\n\n\n\nHow to get there and what to combine it with\n\n\n\nThe market sits in front of the Cathedral\, a five-minute walk from Plaça de Catalunya: metro Jaume I (L4) or Liceu (L3)\, or Urquinaona (L1\, L4). The Christmas Bus Tour stops nearby. Combine it with a visit to the Cathedral and its cloister\, the Christmas lights on Portal de l’Àngel\, the nativity scene on Plaça Sant Jaume and\, fifteen minutes downhill\, the Christmas market at Port Vell. The Fira de Nadal at the Sagrada Família is a 15-minute metro ride away. Details in our metro guide. \n\n\n\nTickets and tours in the Gothic Quarter\n\n\n\nThe Gothic Quarter is the starting point for walking tours\, the Cathedral rooftop and the Picasso Museum\, and the Gaudí sights are a short metro ride away. Our guide to hotels during Winter Festival Barcelona compares the neighbourhoods. Check availability near the Cathedral: \n\n\n\n\n Booking.com\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently asked questions\n\n\n\nWhen does the Fira de Santa Llúcia open in 2026?\n\n\n\nAround 20 November 2026\, coinciding with the switch-on of the Christmas lights\, until 23 December. The exact dates are confirmed by the organisers each autumn. \n\n\n\nWhat is a caganer?\n\n\n\nA small figure of a crouching man relieving himself\, hidden in every Catalan nativity scene as a symbol of fertility and good luck. The fair sells thousands of them\, including versions of celebrities\, athletes and politicians. \n\n\n\nIs the market open on Christmas Day?\n\n\n\nNo. The Fira de Santa Llúcia closes on 23 December. For the Christmas week and New Year\, visit the Port Vell market\, which is open until 6 January. \n\n\n\nNativity figures under the Gothic cathedral\, the scent of moss and pine\, carols and a caganer in your pocket: the Fira de Santa Llúcia is the essential Barcelona Christmas experience\, and the perfect first stop of your winter trip. \n\n\n\nStart your Winter Festival Barcelona at the Fira de Santa Llúcia. SUMMARY:Christmas market at Port Vell 2026/27: Ferris wheel\, food and lights by the sea
DESCRIPTION:Expected dates for the 2026/27 season\, based on previous editions. We update this page as soon as the organisers confirm the official programme. \n\n\n\nA Christmas market with palm trees\, yachts and the smell of the sea: the Fira de Nadal at Port Vell is Barcelona’s most photogenic winter fair. On the Moll de la Fusta\, between the Columbus monument and the marina\, you’ll find a giant Ferris wheel\, food stalls\, craft and gift stands\, a huge Christmas tree and nightly light shows over the water. It opens later than the other Christmas markets in Barcelona and is the only one that stays open until Three Kings. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat to expect at the Port Vell Christmas market\n\n\n\nUnlike the traditional Fira de Santa Llúcia\, the Port Vell market is about atmosphere and food rather than nativity figures. Wooden chalets sell hot chocolate\, churros\, mulled wine\, crêpes\, cheese and cured meats\, while artisans offer jewellery\, ceramics and Christmas decorations. The illuminated Ferris wheel is the star attraction\, with views over the harbour\, the old town and Montjuïc. A programme of concerts\, workshops\, storytelling for children and a light-and-sound show turns the quay into an evening destination. \n\n\n\nEverything sits on the Port Vell promenade\, a few minutes’ walk from La Rambla\, the Maremagnum shopping centre and the Barceloneta beach\, so it is easy to combine with a stroll along the waterfront. \n\n\n\nDates and opening hours 2026/27\n\n\n\nThe market opens at the end of November and runs through the whole festive season\, including 25 December\, 1 January and Three Kings. It is open daily from around 10:00 to 21:00\, with longer hours – until 22:00 – on Saturdays and public holidays. Entry to the market is free; the Ferris wheel and some activities charge a small fee. \n\n\n\nItemDetailsDates27 November 2026 – 6 January 2027 (expected)Opening hoursDaily 10:00 – 21:00; Saturdays and holidays until 22:00EntryFree (Ferris wheel and some activities paid)LocationMoll de la Fusta\, Port Vell – metro Drassanes (L3)\n\n\n\nHow to get there\n\n\n\nThe market is on Moll de la Fusta\, next to Plaça del Portal de la Pau at the bottom of La Rambla. Take metro line L3 to Drassanes (two minutes’ walk) or L4 to Barceloneta; buses V13\, V15\, D20 and the Christmas Bus Tour stop nearby. From the Cathedral and the Fira de Santa Llúcia it is a fifteen-minute walk downhill through the Gothic Quarter. Our metro guide explains tickets and lines. \n\n\n\nCombine it with the rest of the season\n\n\n\nCome in the late afternoon: watch the sunset over the harbour from the Ferris wheel\, eat at the stalls and stay for the light show. On 5 January the Three Kings arrive by boat right here at Moll de la Fusta before their parade through the city\, and on New Year’s Eve the quay is a good place for a walk before or after the fireworks at Plaça d’Espanya. \n\n\n\nTickets and tours around Port Vell\n\n\n\nPort Vell is the starting point for harbour boat trips\, the Aquarium and the cable car to Montjuïc\, and the Gothic Quarter’s sights are around the corner. You pay for food\, drinks and rides such as the Ferris wheel. \n\n\n\nIs it open on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day?\n\n\n\nYes. The Port Vell market is open every day of the season\, including 25 December\, 1 January and 6 January\, usually from 10:00. \n\n\n\nIs the market suitable for children?\n\n\n\nVery. Besides the Ferris wheel there are workshops\, storytelling\, a carousel in some editions and plenty of space for pushchairs on the wide quay. \n\n\n\nFerris wheel lights on the water\, churros in hand and a mild sea breeze: the Port Vell Christmas market is Barcelona’s Mediterranean take on the winter fair\, and the one to visit if you are in the city between Christmas and Three Kings. \n\n\n\nVisit the Christmas market at Port Vell this winter. SUMMARY:Fira de Nadal at the Sagrada Família 2026: Christmas market beside Gaudí's basilica
DESCRIPTION:Expected dates for the 2026/27 season\, based on previous editions. We update this page as soon as the organisers confirm the official programme. \n\n\n\nFew Christmas markets have a backdrop like this one. The Fira de Nadal at the Sagrada Família sets up its wooden stalls on Plaça de la Sagrada Família\, right beside the Nativity façade of Gaudí’s basilica\, and sells everything a Catalan family needs for Christmas: nativity figures\, Christmas trees\, the caganer and the Tió de Nadal. It is the quieter\, more local sister of the Fira de Santa Llúcia and one of the highlights of Winter Festival Barcelona for anyone visiting the basilica in December. \n\n\n\nVisiting the basilica too? Everything about tickets\, towers\, time slots and Gaudí’s design is in our in-depth guide on Visit Gaudí: Sagrada Família. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat you’ll find at the market\n\n\n\nAround a hundred stalls line the square in the district of the same name\, a market that has been held here since the 1960s. The offer is traditional: hand-painted nativity figures and complete pessebres\, moss\, cork and bark for building the scene\, the cheeky caganer in hundreds of versions\, Christmas trees\, poinsettias and mistletoe\, and handmade decorations\, candles and ceramics. Food stalls sell turrón\, neules and hot chocolate. There is less of a crowd than at the Cathedral\, which makes it a better place to browse with children. \n\n\n\nLook for the caganers of footballers\, politicians and celebrities – the new figures of the year are a Catalan news item every December – and for the Tió\, the smiling log that “poops” presents on Christmas Eve. Our guide to Catalan Christmas traditions explains what all of these are for. \n\n\n\nDates and opening hours 2026\n\n\n\nThe market runs from the last weekend of November until 23 December\, the day before Christmas Eve\, when Catalan families set up their nativity scenes. It is open every day from about 10:00 to 21:00\, with slightly shorter hours on the first days. Entry is free. \n\n\n\nItemDetailsDates29 November – 23 December 2026 (expected)Opening hoursDaily approx. 10:00 – 21:00EntryFreeLocationPlaça de la Sagrada Família – metro Sagrada Família (L2\, L5)\n\n\n\nHow to get there\n\n\n\nPlaça de la Sagrada Família is directly at metro stop Sagrada Família (lines L2 and L5); buses 19\, 33\, 34\, 50\, 51 and H10 and the Christmas Bus Tour stop nearby. From Passeig de Gràcia it is a 20-minute walk through the Eixample. Coming from the Fira de Santa Llúcia\, take L4 from Jaume I to Verdaguer and change to L5\, about 15 minutes. See our metro guide. \n\n\n\nCombine it with the Sagrada Família\n\n\n\nThe obvious plan is to pair the market with a visit to the Sagrada Família itself. In winter the basilica closes at 18:00\, so book a morning or early-afternoon slot\, then wander the market at dusk when the stalls and the façade are lit. Tickets are timed and sell out over the Christmas weeks – reserve in advance. The Casa Batlló Winter Night and Passeig de Gràcia lights are a ten-minute metro ride away for the evening. \n\n\n\nSagrada Família tickets and tours\n\n\n\nSagrada Família tickets work with timed entry and sell out in December. Book your Barcelona tickets in advance or combine the basilica with Park Güell and more in the Barcelona Pass. Current offers: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHotels near the Sagrada Família\n\n\n\nStaying in the Eixample or Gràcia puts the Sagrada Família\, the market and the Passeig de Gràcia lights within walking distance. Our guide to hotels during Winter Festival Barcelona compares the neighbourhoods. Check availability near the basilica: \n\n\n\n\n Booking.com\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently asked questions\n\n\n\nIs the Sagrada Família Christmas market free?\n\n\n\nYes\, the market on the square is free to visit. Entry to the basilica itself requires a timed ticket. \n\n\n\nHow does it differ from the Fira de Santa Llúcia?\n\n\n\nBoth sell nativity figures\, trees and crafts. Santa Llúcia is older\, larger and busier\, in front of the Cathedral in the Gothic Quarter; the Sagrada Família market is calmer\, more local and has Gaudí’s basilica as a backdrop. \n\n\n\nIs it open on Christmas Day?\n\n\n\nNo. The market closes on 23 December. The Port Vell Christmas market stays open until 6 January. \n\n\n\nNativity figures\, the smell of pine and Gaudí’s towers rising above the stalls: the Fira de Nadal at the Sagrada Família is the most photogenic place in Barcelona to buy a caganer. Book your basilica ticket for the same day and you have a perfect December afternoon. \n\n\n\nVisit the Christmas market at the Sagrada Família this December. Book your tickets and hotel now!

SUMMARY:Fira de Reis – Three Kings Market on Gran Via\, Barcelona
DESCRIPTION:Expected dates for the 2026/27 season\, based on previous editions. We update this page as soon as the official programme is confirmed. \n\n\n\nIn Catalonia the presents don’t arrive on Christmas Eve but on the night of 5 January\, brought by the Three Kings. That is why Barcelona’s festive season ends with the Fira de Reis on Gran Via\, the Three Kings Market: several blocks of stalls where families do their last-minute shopping for toys\, sweets and gifts right up until the Cavalcada de Reis has passed. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is the Fira de Reis?\n\n\n\nThe Fira de Reis is the youngest and most practical of Barcelona’s Christmas markets. Where the Fira de Santa Llúcia sells nativity figures and the Port Vell market is about food and rides\, the Gran Via fair is about presents: toys\, games\, books\, clothes\, gadgets\, jewellery and sweets\, sold from around 300 stalls along the central promenade of Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes. It is a market for locals rather than tourists\, which is exactly what makes it worth a look. \n\n\n\nDates and opening hours 2026/27\n\n\n\nThe fair runs from around 15 December 2026 until 6 January 2027 and is usually open daily from 11:00 to 22:00\, with longer hours on the last days before the Three Kings. Entry is free. The busiest moments are the evenings of 4 and 5 January\, when the whole city seems to be buying that one last present. \n\n\n\nWhere is it and how to get there\n\n\n\nOn Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes between Carrer del Comte d’Urgell and Carrer de Calàbria\, in the Sant Antoni / Eixample Esquerra area. Take metro L1 to Rocafort or Urgell; both stations exit directly onto the fair. From Plaça de Catalunya it is a 15-minute walk along Gran Via. \n\n\n\nTips\n\n\n\nCombine the fair with the Three Kings: on the evening of 5 January the Kings arrive by boat at Port Vell and the Cavalcada de Reis parades through the city\, throwing sweets into the crowd. Read about the tradition of the Kings\, the caganer and the Tió in our guide to Catalan Christmas traditions\, and see all other events in the Winter Festival Barcelona 2026/27 guide. SUMMARY:New Year's Eve in Barcelona 2026: fireworks at Plaça d'Espanya\, twelve grapes and parties
DESCRIPTION:Expected programme for 31 December 2026\, based on previous editions. We update this page as soon as the city confirms the official celebration. \n\n\n\nNew Year’s Eve in Barcelona – Cap d’Any in Catalan\, Nochevieja in Spanish – is the grand finale of Winter Festival Barcelona. The city gathers at Plaça d’Espanya for a show of light\, music and fireworks around the Magic Fountain\, eats twelve grapes at midnight and parties until sunrise. This guide tells you where to go\, which traditions to join and how to plan dinner\, tickets and a hotel before everything sells out. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe official celebration at Plaça d’Espanya\n\n\n\nThe public party takes place on Avinguda Maria Cristina\, between Plaça d’Espanya and the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc. From around 22:00 the avenue fills with locals and visitors; at midnight the twelve chimes are followed by a roughly fifteen-minute spectacle of fireworks\, light projections\, water and music with the MNAC palace as backdrop. Entry is free and no tickets are needed\, but arrive early: the area is packed well before midnight and the police close access once it is full. \n\n\n\nThe show is designed for families as much as for night owls\, and the crowd disperses quickly afterwards. If you want a seat with a view\, the rooftop bars and hotel terraces around Plaça d’Espanya and along Gran Via sell New Year’s Eve packages weeks in advance. \n\n\n\nTimeWhat happensWheremorning 31 DecCursa dels Nassos 10 km runPoblenou – seafrontfrom 22:00Public gathering\, DJs and musicAvinguda Maria Cristina00:00Twelve chimes\, grapes\, fireworks and fountain showPlaça d’Espanya – Magic Fountain00:15 – 06:00Parties and clubsPort Olímpic\, Poblenou\, Eixample\n\n\n\nTwelve grapes and other Catalan traditions\n\n\n\nThe most important ritual happens at midnight: with every stroke of the clock you eat one grape\, twelve in total\, for twelve months of good luck. Supermarkets sell tins of twelve peeled grapes for exactly this purpose. Spaniards also wear red underwear for luck\, toast with cava from the Penedès and\, in Catalonia\, watch out for l’Home dels Nassos\, the man with as many noses as there are days left in the year – on 31 December that is just one. In the morning thousands of runners take part in the Cursa dels Nassos\, a 10-kilometre race along the seafront. Read more about these customs in our guide to Catalan Christmas traditions. \n\n\n\nDinner\, cotillón and parties\n\n\n\nMost restaurants serve a fixed New Year’s Eve menu (menú de Cap d’Any)\, often with the grapes and a cotillón party bag included\, and they are fully booked by mid-December\, so reserve as soon as your dates are fixed. After midnight the city moves to the clubs: Pacha\, Opium and Shôko on the beach at Port Olímpic\, Razzmatazz in Poblenou and the rooftop parties in the Eixample. Tickets for the big parties are sold in advance and prices rise sharply in the last days of the year. \n\n\n\nPrefer something quieter? The Gothic Quarter and El Born have jazz clubs and wine bars\, the beach at Barceloneta is a popular spot for a midnight walk\, and the Christmas market at Port Vell with its Ferris wheel stays open until Three Kings. \n\n\n\nGetting around on New Year’s Eve\n\n\n\nThe metro runs all night on 31 December and buses and the Nitbus network operate as usual\, so you can reach Plaça d’Espanya (lines L1 and L3) and get back to your hotel without a taxi. Taxis are available but scarce right after midnight. On 1 January the metro starts later than usual\, most shops and many restaurants are closed\, and museums open around midday; see our metro guide for details. \n\n\n\nNew Year’s Day and the days after\n\n\n\n1 January is a quiet day in Barcelona: walk along the beach\, take the Christmas bus tour or visit the Sagrada Família\, which is open. The festive season continues until the Three Kings Parade on 5 January\, the night Catalan children receive their presents\, and the Fira de Reis on Gran Via is open for last-minute gifts. \n\n\n\nTickets\, tours and New Year’s Eve parties\n\n\n\nNew Year’s Eve dinner cruises\, party tickets and the popular attractions on 1 and 2 January sell out early. Book your Barcelona tickets in advance or combine the Gaudí highlights with the Barcelona Pass. Current offers: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHotels near Plaça d’Espanya for New Year’s Eve\n\n\n\nHotels around Plaça d’Espanya\, Sants and the lower Eixample let you walk to the fireworks and back. New Year’s Eve is the busiest night of the winter\, so book early; our guide to hotels during Winter Festival Barcelona compares the best areas. Check availability on the map: \n\n\n\n\n Booking.com\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently asked questions\n\n\n\nIs the New Year’s Eve show at Plaça d’Espanya free?\n\n\n\nYes. The celebration on Avinguda Maria Cristina is free and open to everyone; there are no tickets. Arrive before 23:00 to be sure of a place. \n\n\n\nAre there fireworks over the beach?\n\n\n\nThe official fireworks are at Plaça d’Espanya. Some beach clubs and hotels organise their own smaller displays\, and Barceloneta beach is a popular place to watch the sky at midnight\, but there is no official beach show. \n\n\n\nWhat is open on 1 January?\n\n\n\nMost shops and supermarkets are closed. Restaurants in tourist areas\, the Sagrada Família\, Park Güell\, Casa Batlló and the Christmas market at Port Vell are open; museums usually open from 12:00. \n\n\n\nNew Year’s Eve in Barcelona is mild\, festive and open-air: a fountain show instead of a frozen square\, cava instead of mulled wine and a beach walk on 1 January. Add the twelve grapes and you have a night to remember. \n\n\n\nCelebrate New Year’s Eve 2026 in Barcelona. Book your dinner\, tickets and hotel now!

SUMMARY:Three Kings Parade Barcelona 2027 (Cavalcada de Reis): route\, times and tips
DESCRIPTION:Expected date and route for 5 January 2027\, based on previous editions. We update this page as soon as the city publishes the official programme. \n\n\n\nIn Catalonia the presents are not brought by Santa Claus but by the Three Kings\, who arrive in Barcelona on the evening of 5 January. The Cavalcada de Reis is the biggest parade of the year: Melchior\, Caspar and Balthazar sail into Port Vell\, receive the key to the city and ride through the streets on floats\, showering the crowd with sweets. It is the closing night of Winter Festival Barcelona and the most magical evening of the winter for families. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe arrival of the Kings at Port Vell\n\n\n\nThe evening starts at the harbour. Around 16:30 the Kings arrive on the historic schooner Santa Eulàlia at Moll de la Fusta\, in front of the Port Vell marina\, where they are welcomed by the mayor\, who hands them the magic key that opens every door in Barcelona that night. The quays fill up early; families with small children stand along Passeig de Colom and near the Columbus monument for the best view of the boats and the fireworks that greet the Kings. \n\n\n\nThe parade route and timetable\n\n\n\nAt around 18:00 the Cavalcada sets off from Avinguda del Marquès de l’Argentera near Ciutadella park. The route\, roughly five kilometres long\, follows Passeig d’Isabel II\, Via Laietana\, Carrer de Fontanella and Plaça de Catalunya\, continues along Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes and Carrer de Sepúlveda and ends around 21:30 at Avinguda de Maria Cristina at the foot of Montjuïc\, where the Kings say goodbye in front of the Magic Fountain. More than a thousand participants\, dozens of floats\, dancers\, musicians and giant puppets take part; the royal pages collect the last letters and the Kings throw tonnes of sweets into the crowd. \n\n\n\nWhere to stand? Via Laietana and Gran Via are wide and offer room for pushchairs; Plaça de Catalunya is the busiest spot. Arrive an hour early\, bring an umbrella turned upside down for catching sweets\, and note that the metro and buses around the route are crowded but keep running. \n\n\n\nTime (5 Jan)What happensWhere16:30Kings arrive by boat\, welcome by the mayorMoll de la Fusta\, Port Vell18:00Parade sets offAv. Maria Cristina\, Montjuïc\n\n\n\nTraditions: letters\, carbó and the tortell de Reis\n\n\n\nIn the days before 5 January children hand their letters to the royal pages (patges reials) at the Fira de Reis and in shopping centres. On the night itself families leave out shoes\, water for the camels and a glass of something for the Kings. On the morning of 6 January the presents appear\, and children who have been naughty get carbó\, sugar coal. Breakfast is the tortell de Reis\, a ring-shaped cake with a hidden bean and a figurine: whoever finds the figurine is king for the day\, whoever finds the bean pays for the cake. Read more about these customs in our guide to Catalan Christmas traditions. \n\n\n\nWhat else is on: Fira de Reis and the last market days\n\n\n\nThe Fira de Reis on Gran Via\, the Three Kings market\, is open until 6 January for last-minute toys and gifts\, and the Christmas market at Port Vell with its Ferris wheel stays open through the holiday. On 6 January (Epiphany) shops and most attractions close for the day\, so plan your sightseeing for 4 and 5 January or after the holiday. The Sagrada Família and Park Güell are open on 6 January. \n\n\n\nTickets and tours around Three Kings\n\n\n\nThe days around Three Kings are among the busiest of the winter at the Gaudí sights\, and 6 January is a public holiday. Book your Barcelona tickets in advance or combine the highlights with the Barcelona Pass. Current offers: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHotels along the parade route\n\n\n\nA hotel near Via Laietana\, Plaça de Catalunya or Gran Via puts you on the parade route\, and the Gothic Quarter and El Born are within walking distance of the harbour. Prices go up for the Three Kings weekend\, so book early; our guide to hotels during Winter Festival Barcelona compares the neighbourhoods. Check availability on the map: \n\n\n\n\n Booking.com\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently asked questions\n\n\n\nIs the Three Kings Parade free?\n\n\n\nYes. The Cavalcada de Reis is a free street parade; you can watch from anywhere along the route. Grandstand seats near Plaça de Catalunya and Gran Via are reserved for local families through the city’s ballot. \n\n\n\nHow long does the parade take to pass?\n\n\n\nThe full procession takes about 45 minutes to pass a given point. From the first float at 18:00 to the finale at Montjuïc the parade lasts roughly three and a half hours. \n\n\n\nIs everything closed on 6 January?\n\n\n\nEpiphany is a public holiday: shops\, supermarkets and many restaurants are closed. The Sagrada Família\, Park Güell\, Casa Batlló and the Port Vell market are open\, and the Fira de Reis is open for its last day. \n\n\n\nThe Cavalcada de Reis is Barcelona’s answer to Christmas Eve: a whole city on the pavements\, children with letters in their hands and a rain of sweets. If you can time your winter trip to include 5 January\, do it. \n\n\n\nSee the Three Kings arrive in Barcelona on 5 January 2027. Book your tickets and hotel now!
